Gratitude Despacho Ceremony
Hosted by Susan Schiller & Moon Rising Retreat
Sunday, September 28th at 6:30-9pm

You are Invited to a Despacho Ceremony in Celebration of the Changing Season
Join us in sacred ceremony as we honor the beginning of fall with a Despacho—a traditional Andean offering of gratitude. This beautiful ritual includes offerings from the Earth such as flowers, grains, seeds, leaves, candies, and most importantly, the heartfelt intentions of each participant—to create a symbolic prayer bundle.
This practice originates from the Pampamesayoq tradition of the Q’eros Nation in Peru. In April 2025, Don Augustine and his son visited Moon Rising Retreat to share this sacred ritual, and we are honored to continue their legacy by deepening our connection with the Apus—the sacred mountain spirits of Peru in connection with the sacred mountains of the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina.
Together, we will offer our gratitude and weave intentions into a shared prayer of gratitude for Pachamama, Mother Earth, and all the gifts she continues to provide for all.
We will gather outside on the lands, open the sacred space, assemble the beautiful offering together, connect with sharing and offer the Despacho to the fire.
While the fire is being prepared, there will be tea provided. It is suggested to have dinner in advance of attending as a meal will not be provided.
Please bring a flower from nature or a teaspoon of uncooked grains or beans to include in the offering. Wear comfortable clothing and bring any layers needed, depending on weather.
We look forward to seeing you soon with open hearts.
RSVP is required.
